Ok so here is my final
I am still struggling with the composition of it. I felt my original idea with the font on the right side was too separated between image and font and I just wasnt happy with the look, I changed to font to the bottom of the page and played with the shadows and objects that way to transition in to the text.

Ok so here is what I have so far....I managed to make the image large by duplicating the pixels.
I have made the girl into a black and white stamp with slight detail.
Also attempted to remove the original graffiti by dodging and burning through the detail. I figured this was the best way to delete the graffiti without loosing any detail from either painting over or deleting. It seems to be working, but I feel I might need to invest a little more time in it to get the result I desire.
Also I decided if my other attempts at making graffiti fail, then I might hand dodge the graffiti on to the wall.

Ben Shahn
He is an American painter, photographer and lithographer. I really enjoyed how his works includes text as a vital part of the image and without, it would not be the same thing. I love how the words are simply just a major part. These are the few images I found that show this style. The first image is very abstract and yet the text just fits with in the work. The second image has more text usage but that text is so vital because it completely draws you in and keeps your eye moving from poster to poster.Tuesday, September 22, 2009
